How to Clean Carbon Deposits and Scale from Generators
Long-term use of hard water in generators causes yellowish-white scale to build up on the inner walls of coolers and pipes. This reduces thermal conductivity and impairs cooling efficiency!
1) Phosphate Descaling: Inject a 3%-5% trisodium phosphate solution and let it sit for 10-12 hours to convert scale into water-soluble salts. 2) Alkaline Solution Descaling: Prepare a solution of caustic soda and kerosene in specific proportions. Let it sit in the cooling system for 12 hours, then flush with clean water. 3) Acid cleaning: Common acid solutions include phosphoric acid or hydrochloric acid. Cleaning Carbon Deposits in Diesel Generators Carbon deposits accumulate on valves, pistons, and cylinder heads in Cummins generators. We typically employ three methods: mechanical cleaning, chemical cleaning, and electrochemical cleaning. 1) Mechanical cleaning: Remove carbon deposits using wire brushes and scrapers. This method is simple but prone to damaging surfaces and may fail to fully remove deposits. 1) Mechanical cleaning: Remove carbon deposits using wire brushes and scrapers. This method is simple but prone to damaging component surfaces and may leave residue. 2) Chemical cleaning: For precision-machined surfaces unsuitable for mechanical cleaning, use chemical solutions. 3) Electrochemical cleaning: Employ an alkaline solution as the electrolyte. Deposits are removed through a combination of chemical reactions and hydrogen stripping.
