What Faults Require Emergency Shutdown of Diesel Generator Sets?
During operation, diesel generator sets may encounter sudden issues due to operator neglect of maintenance or prolonged overload. What situations necessitate immediate shutdown by the customer?
1. If the diesel engine suddenly changes sound during operation, or oil pressure drops or disappears entirely, the high-pressure fuel pump may be damaged, requiring emergency shutdown.
2. If the RPM gauge automatically increases and remains elevated, it may indicate engine runaway.
3. If temperature rises significantly after operation or surges immediately upon startup, this typically indicates poor cooling—check the radiator first.
4. Normal diesel generator sets produce crisp sounds. Any unusual noises or knocking sounds from the cylinder block require shutdown and inspection.
5. Leaks of oil or water from any pipes also require immediate shutdown and inspection.
When machine malfunctions occur, stop the engine promptly to prevent irreversible damage and minimize harm to the equipment.
